Fantastic news – our new Cobden Works home, designed by Liverpool-based Architectural Emporium, picked up three prizes at the prestigious RIBA North West Awards 2018, held in Liverpool on Wednesday 16 May 2018.
The annual awards are bestowed on projects, architects and their clients by RIBA, the Royal Institute of British Architects – the organisation representing the profession.
Walk the Plank’s new home, completed in August 2017, was awarded a RIBA North West Award for Client of the Year, with Architectural Emporium awarded RIBA North West Emerging Practice of the Year.
Here’s a snapshot of what the RIBA judges said about our building.
‘Working on a shoestring budget, they found a site in an industrial area – a rather hostile environment of waste plants and heavy lorries. The client commissioned an emerging architect practice to create a range of working spaces, and this has produced a successful collaboration.
‘The site strategy is bold and inventive, placing the new office building at the far end of the site on the busy crossroads, reached by a path running alongside the road. This gives the visitor an introductory promenade tour of the yards and workshops and creates a safe “street” for all users.’
