We are inviting you and your local hero to join us as torchbearers in our flaming torch parade on Friday 21 March 2025.
From compassionate carers to tireless volunteers, we want to celebrate those little acts of kindness which take place in all corners of Ashington. Those people who go above and beyond, who are always there, come rain or shine. Maybe it’s someone whose small neighbourly gestures mean the world, or an individual who made all the difference during somebody’s time of need.
Whoever it is and whatever they’ve done, this is your chance to nominate your community’s hero and sign yourself up for this spectacular torchlit procession through Hirst Welfare Park, ending their journey at our fantastic Feast of Fire finale celebration.
We are recruiting up to 500 torchbearers for this spectacular event. Come and make history with us in this Animating Ashington moment to remember.

Nominate your local hero and take part in a 500-strong torchlit procession
Note: Torch Bearers must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
Key Details
Nominators are invited to nominate their local heroes and join in the procession themselves with as many people from their community group or family as they would like to take part.
All torchbearers must complete the registration form either as individuals or on behalf of a group to be part of the procession.
Torchbearers must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
Please note that all torchbearers must be available on the evening of Friday 21 March.
Participants will receive an email to confirm their place as a torch bearer following their registration, from the week commencing 3 February, and be provided with more details about the event and their involvement.
