An introduction to the Creative Practice of Sofie Layton
Artist and designer Sofie Layton received recognition this year for her ground-breaking work in art for health and wellbeing as Great Ormond Street Hospital’s artist in residence. Working with patients for 12 months, she used a unique approach to help families come to terms with congenital heart disorders and to explore the experience of a patient being treated in isolation.
Sofie’s practice explores time, place, memory, celebrated histories and intimate personal stories. Past projects have been inspired by extraordinary historic buildings and gardens; disused airfields and desolate urban under-passes; and collaborations with writers, musicians, theatre directors.
