‘Welcome to the Forest’ – Waltham Forest’s opening weekend to a year of culture

Date: 11 January 2019 to 13 January 2019

Location: London Borough of Waltham Forest

Client: Waltham Forest Council

Fiery garden installations as part of opening event for Waltham Forest's London Borough of Culture 2019 programme

We were really excited to be commissioned by the London Borough of Waltham Forest to create a series of fiery installations as part of a wider curated programme of night time events to mark their 'Welcome to the Forest' opening weekend in January to kick-start a year of culture.

Waltham Forest is the first ever London Borough of Culture, awarded by the Mayor of London to ensure that arts and culture is placed at the heart of communities - so it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our fiery expertise amongst a series of installations from other artists and arts organisations.

Staged in the second weekend of January, 'Welcome to the Forest' was a 3 day festival of light, dance, street theatre and art designed to reflect the 'Radicals, Makers and Fellowship' themes for the cultural year in Waltham Forest.

We know that our fiery sculptures and installations are  hugely popular with people of all ages, and on this occasion they were  showcased alongside a range of different works, providing a captivating fiery experience as part of a curated series of new commissions.

"We last staged our fire garden installations at the Dulwich Picture Gallery back in 2016, so it was brilliant that on our next return to London we were helping deliver another cultural experience , this time with Waltham Forest in their role as the first ever London Borough of Culture' Nathan Jackson, Producer.
