Two fiery summer nights on Barry Island

Date: 21 July 2018 to 22 July 2018

Location: Barry Island

Client: Vale of Glamorgan Council

A Viking ship and fiery antics marked the opening of Barry Island's summer programme of weekenders

Barry Island has remained a regular fixture within our summer portfolio of events, but for 2018 we worked with Vale of Glamorgan Council to mix things up a bit and create a larger event over two weekend evenings from 8.30pm - 11pm on July 21 and 22, as part of a summer long programme of Barry Island weekenders organised by the council.

This is the perfect example of how we have worked with a client to build popularity around an idea and help evolve it with new content and a longer duration to reach more audiences.

In 2017, the event was estimated to have attracted 43,000 visitors.

In 2018 we returned with our hugely popular fiery Viking Ship and took over gardens and familiar public spaces along the promenade to create moments of outdoor spectacle that delight and surprise people of all ages.

"Barry Island is a fantastic crowd pleaser that just grows in popularity each year.  It's a simple but proven formula with both the Council and the people of Barry Island.  The promenade is a popular local attraction which we bring to life each summer with a curated programme of fiery events that bring people of all ages to a place they know and love."  Billie Klinger, Producer
