A stella lead-parade piece for this year’s Pride
For the fourth consecutive year we were back working for Manchester Pride on their official lead piece for the 2019 parade.
One of the highlights of the annual Pride weekend is their Saturday parade through the city centre. 2019' parade theme 'Deep Space Pride: A Future World of Equality' brought together many inter-galactic points of reference, not least because this is the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings.
The focus of our brief was to make a big visual statement at the very front of the parade with a troupe of paraders who, this year, were kitted out in an array of space-themed costumes, moving as choreographed troupe to a specially-commissioned piece of space-themed music.
A second element was to create a series of banners showing individual elements from the new Manchester Pride flag which also made its very public debut in the parade, and was also used as site decor branding across the festival.
Seen by crowds of thousands who lined the streets from Deansgate through to Manchester Piccadilly, this year's parade also included a flash mob dance piece in front of the VIP stand.
"It's great to be working with Manchester Pride on this flagship event in their calendar to create a show stopping lead parade piece. Once again with we're working with artists and choreographers to create something that will be a fun and engaging scene setter for the rest of the parade." Ben Turner, Project Manager
