Festival of the Sky
A long weekend of arts, culture and activities for festival-goers of all ages.
Working with Richmond Events, the company behind the Bristol International Film Fiesta, we devised a dramatic show featuring inflated balloons, an aerial performance from a balloon coupled with pyrotechnics, and accompanied by music to help tell the story of the Montgolfier brothers, the pioneers of balloon flight.
Due to turbulent winds on the day, our proposed version of the show had to be adapted for safety reasons. The final show was just as dramatic but unfortunately didn’t feature the balloons which, had we been able to inflate them, would have created a truly stunning backdrop against the night sky.
Even so, it was fantastic to work with the experienced team at Richmond Events to pull off a stunning crowd-pleasing Saturday show which featured majestic fireworks and a line-up of iconic balloon baskets held high above the crowds on scissor lifts.
Also, as part of the Friday evening programme, we staged our hugely popular immersive fire gardens at Cleethorpes Discovery Centre Gardens to give visitors the chance to get up close and feel the heat among a series of fiery installations.
“Working with From the Fields and Richmond Events on this exciting new festival was an amazing experience and gave us the chance to imagine a daring new outdoor show. While it was a shame that we couldn’t realise our full creative ambition on the night, due to wind conditions, our collaboration with these two companies has been a real inspiration and the response from the crowd truly amazing.” John Wassell, Creative Producer

The outstanding level of professionalism in managing the show content, safety aspects and communications in the windy weather meant that we managed to execute plan c and still retain a very happy client and delighted the public.
Thanks for all your efforts and for helping to make the very first Festival of the Sky a real winner. ''
