Festival of the Sea Grimsby
Join us on a voyage of discovery, as we set sail into Grimsby’s future, present and past through the town’s newest festival, Festival of the Sea.
We invite you to celebrate our connections to the sea, while experiencing leading outdoor performances and exploring more about the town’s history.
July saw us launch the inaugural Festival of the Sea, as we set sail on a voyage of discovery through Grimsby’s future, present and past.
#FoSea celebrated work from talented local and national artists, free heritage walks, talks and a workplace engagement programme that connected to the town's seafood processing sector. ‘Festival Square’ hosted a free programme of vibrant street theatre, live music and dance from talented local and national artists. There was a series of engaging heritage walks, talks and debates, that encouraged everyone to think about sustainability. Within the square, food stalls celebrated Grimsby’s links to the sea through its world-leading seafood sector and the Minster hosted live DJs playing global sounds.
A series of online events ran from 12 and 16 July, delving into Grimsby’s sea-faring heritage and families joined in with nature activities, helping them learn more about the wildlife around our waterways.
Created in collaboration with The Culture House, Festival of the Sea returns in 2022 to continue exploring Grimsby’s long-standing connection to the sea through free outdoor performances, cultural and heritage events.
