Sacred Fires: Dashehra Diwali Mela finale in Albert Square

Date: 20 October 2018 to 20 October 2018

Location: Albert Square, Manchester

Client: Indian Association

We're delighted to have worked with, once again, the Indian Association who brought their Saturday afternoon Mela celebrations to a close with a finale spectacle in Manchester's Albert Square during the evenings show.

This family-focused celebration was inevitably colourful, vibrant and noisy with a range of events and activities that took place throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Our role focused on the end of evening finale, which featured fireworks, and a lantern parade that made its way from the entrance of Manchester Central Library to Albert Square.

Sacred Fires is a collaboration between Kadam Dance and Walk the Plank presenting the Odissi Ensemble for Manchester Diwali Dashera Mela.
Produced by Walk the Plank.
Commissioned by Indian Association Manchester and supported by Arts Council England.

"Given our strong links to Asian communities across Manchester, we love working on Mela celebrations like this which have become a staple part of the events calendar in the city and an important expression of its rich cultural diversity." Nick Clarke, Producer
