With over 30 years’ experience in the arts industry and over 20 years’ experience as a director and producer. Billie started in repertory theatre as stage, company manager and then production manager. She was a Senior Lecturer for the BA Hons degree course in Technical Theatre at Arden School of Theatre. She was also Production Manager for Manchester City of Drama in 1994 and went on to work in events and outdoor arts for a number of festivals and Manchester City Council as a Production and Event Manager /Director. She then went on to be a Producer at Manchester International Festival.
Billie joined Walk the Plank over 10 years ago and she brings a wealth of skills to our extensive portfolio of outdoor arts productions, not least of all delivering many parades and festivals. With a truly agile approach to working across a range of art forms, Billie plays a key role in creating and producing many of our large scale events and parades and our touring Fire Garden productions in locations such as Ayr, Barry Island, Northumberland, Paisley and Manchester and has produced the Manchester Day Parade for 6 years amongst many other community enriched projects and events.
More recently she has worked on events with the National Trust at Seaton Delaval Hall and helped develop our growing relationship with Manchester Pride where, since 2016 we have been commissioned by them to stage the official lead piece for their BIG Weekend Parade.
In 2018, she helped drive forward an exciting new collaboration with CityCo Manchester to present our Strolling Bones Halloween parade through Manchester city centre as part of a city-wide programme of Halloween events.
