Location: Jodrell Bank, Cheshire

Client: Blue Dot Festival

Overview

“Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun.” John Lennon

We’re delighted to be joining the brand new Blue Dot Festival at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire this summer at what looks set to be an exciting, quirky and inventive take on the festival scene.

Blue Dot describes itself as a festival of discovery on a mission to entertain and inspire through a full weekend of ground-breaking encounters, including DJ sets, comedy, talks, workshops and live experiments.

What to expect

Our part in this new festival is to create The Outer Space, which will be a beautiful and immersive night-time experience that combines art, science and music in a completely new and unique way. We’re working with Artists Impossible Theatre, Space Cadets, The Kazimier and others to create an exciting journey of light and sound for you to discover through the Jodrell Bank woodland.

This experiential space will invite festival goers to walk through dazzling fiery constellations and explore beautiful shining stars and moons around woodland corners. They’ll also be able to discover the Orrery, a fiery mechanical solar system that predicts the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons, created by artist Ian Broscombe. Other features include the intriguing Impossible Sphere and ‘animated’ trees which will come alive with light and sound installations created by renowned immersive show producers The Kazimier. Visitors to the Star Garden can also relax in the fiery planetarium area surrounded by colour changing orbs.

So, if you’re planning on visiting Blue Dot, come and see The Outer Space and allow yourself to be taken to the stars in this truly immersive nocturnal experience of sculpture, music and art installation.

“One of the fastest growing trends in the UK festival scene is the drive by festival organisers to bring imaginative artistic and immersive content to the main musical programme. Having worked on installations at Festival No 6 and Lost Eden at Kendal Calling, we’re delighted to be bringing this new multi-sensory experience to Blue Dot.”
