WoW workshop Open Day on Saturday June 2, 11am – 3pm

Come along and get a sneak preview before the big day

In an exciting new development, this year we will be opening the Manchester Day creative workshops on Saturday June 2 to give the public a behind the scenes sneak preview of the mass of creative activity ahead of the big day on Sunday June 17.

Our Manchester Day WoW workshops have never been open to the public before the main event, so this is a fantastic opportunity to see all the exciting structures, processional pieces and costumes being fabricated by artists and community groups.

Walk the Plank staff will be on hand to show visitors around the busy workshop which is based in Upper Campfield Market, Barton Street, Manchester M3 4NN.

Entrance is free.

The workshop will be open from 11am – 3pm on Saturday 2 June.

The entrance to the workshop is on Barton Street.

Visitors are advised that the WoW workshop is a busy space full of large mobile structures during various stages of fabrication.  Visitors attend the open day entirely at their own risk.  Children must be accompanied by adults.

For the safety and security of everyone, if there is a large number of visitors at any one point, Walk the Plank may have to time and/or limit the number of people entering the workshop.

Cllr Pat Karney, Chair of Manchester Day, said:

“Workshops don’t get much more creative than Walk the Plank’s WoW Workshop. It is the engine that drives Manchester Day – where our inspirational volunteers meld with some of the best artists in the UK to create the spectacular artworks for the 17 June. This is your chance to get a rare glimpse of the magic behind the day.”

Maureen Lynch, Manchester Day producer said:

“We’re really excited about giving members of the public a sneak preview of the amazing creativity that goes on behind the scenes to make Manchester Day the incredible spectacle it has now become.”
