Freelance Composer/Musical Director

Walk the Plank, in collaboration with Mind the Gap Studios, is seeking an experienced freelance composer/musician to be an integral part of the artistic team, and lead on the creation of a score for an hour-long, large scale, outdoor spectacle: Zara: Daughters of Fortune.
The Composer will work alongside a skilled team of artists, including learning-disabled musicians, to create a score that might include soundscapes that enhance storytelling, projection, song (choral and solo) to bring aural impact that reflects the scale of this world-first production.
Mind the Gap is one of Europe’s leading learning disability theatre companies, and is based in Bradford West Yorkshire. Zara: Daughters of Fortune is a co-production with Walk the Plank, funded through Arts Council England Ambition for Excellence and others.
Development and Composing: August 2018 – January 2019
Recording: February 2019
Events: Zara will take place in two locations: Halifax and London during April and May 2019.
Fee & Expenses
A fixed fee of £5000 (plus VAT if applicable)
It is expected that the fee will cover all artistic meetings, composing and delivery of the final score.
Limited travel expenses covered, as mutually agreed.
This is a freelance position, the post holder will be responsible for their own national insurance and tax payments.
