Walk the Plank’s new centre of excellence

In the run up to our 25th anniversary in 2017, Walk the Plank is preparing to merge two of its key North West sites into a combined multi-practice centre of excellence in Cobden Street, Salford.

The new site, which lies just half a mile from our current office base in Broad Street, will provide us with an exciting mix of space for our production team and head office teams, as well as a dedicated workshop space for creating new outdoor arts structures, along with a new training and education facility.

Our new HQ will involve the refurbishment of two light industrial buildings and the creation of workshop spaces under four railway arches, along with a new build head office building to house our production, marketing and admin team, and a new learning space.
For the first time in our history, this exciting project will give us the chance to bring artists and outdoor arts practitioners under the same roof as our office-based teams, creating an interesting alchemy of skills and creative thinking.

The project, which has been designed by Liverpool-based architectural practice Architectural Emporium, has been made possible thanks to generous funding from Arts Council England.

Work is due to start on site in summer 2016 for completion in early 2017.
